On Wednesday 19th November, Castleford Tigers Foundation hosted a Road and Cycle Safety Day at The OneBore Stadium in Castleford, home of Castleford Tigers RLFC, to support and raise awareness for Road Safety Week.
120 pupils from Park Junior Academy in Castleford enjoyed a morning filled with learning and fun. The children took part in an engaging road safety presentation and had the exciting opportunity to explore an articulated MDS lorry. They learned about blind spots, explored the inside of the cab, and even had the chance to sound the horn.
Our customer, Valeo, the local confectionary factory in Pontefract also joined the event. Their team spoke to the children about honey, bees and the importance of pollinators and kindly provided free wildflower seed packs for pupils to take home, helping them create bee-friendly habitats in their own gardens.
After exploring the lorry and receiving a MDS-branded hi-vis vest, pupils returned to the Chairman’s Lounge to take part in a Design a New MDS Truck competition. Castleford Tigers Head Coach Ryan Carr will be selecting a winning design and visiting Park Junior Academy in the coming weeks to present the winner with a special Castleford Tigers prize. The creativity on display was outstanding, with some truly impressive artwork produced.

Amy Hardman, Head of Foundation at Castleford Tigers, said: ¶
“What a great morning we’ve had. It was fantastic to welcome so many children from a local school to the stadium and to work closely with our club partners. Building strong relationships is really important to us, and we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.”
